Morocco is not one climate but several, stacked against each other: Atlantic coast, imperial plains, high mountains and Saharan south, each with its own ideal window. The short answer is that spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the all-round sweet spots. The longer answer is more interesting.

Spring is our favourite for the cities and the Atlas: warm days, gardens in bloom, snowmelt swelling the mountain rivers. Summer pushes the inland cities to extremes, so we shift to the cool Atlantic — Essaouira and the coast — or up into the mountains.

Autumn brings golden light and a second high season. And winter, underrated, offers crisp blue days, snow on the Atlas, the year's darkest desert skies for stargazing, and the lowest crowds of all. There is no bad time — only a right region for the time you have.
