After the intensity of the medinas, the Atlantic resets you. We base you in Essaouira's good-natured medina or on the dunes beyond it, with days shaped around the rhythm of the sea: blue boats returning with the catch, long lunches of grilled sardines, galleries of Afro-Berber art.

For the active, there's world-class kitesurfing, horse-riding along empty sand, and argan cooperatives in the hinterland. For everyone else, there's the slow gold of a coastal sunset.
