Art Deco and Atlantic modern
The story
Casablanca is the Morocco that surprises first-timers: a 20th-century city of bold Art Deco and Mauresque facades, gallery openings and rooftop bars, where the country's commerce and creativity concentrate. It is less about ancient medinas and more about a nation looking forward.
Its singular monument is the Hassan II Mosque — one of the largest in the world, its minaret rising 210 metres straight from the Atlantic, the only major mosque in Morocco non-Muslims may enter. Stand on the sea-facing esplanade at sunset and the scale is humbling.
We use Casablanca as a stylish bookend — a night of fine dining and design before or after a deeper journey inland.
A private architectural tour of the ocean-side masterpiece and its esplanade.
The Mauresque downtown with an architecture specialist, ending at a 1930s brasserie.
Dinner at the famous Rick's Café, then drinks along the Corniche.
A unique fusion of Art Deco and Moorish design found nowhere else at this scale.
A leading contemporary gallery in a restored Art Deco villa.
The best of Casablanca shifts with the calendar. Here's how we'd time your visit.
Mild ocean air and clear light — comfortable for walking the downtown.
Warm and humid coastal days; evenings on the Corniche are the highlight.
Settled, pleasant weather and a busy cultural calendar.
Cool and breezy, with the lowest visitor numbers and dramatic Atlantic skies.
A hand-picked selection — the addresses we'd book for you here.
