Riad El Fenn
A rambling collection of courtyards, art and rooftop pools steps from the Koutoubia.
The red city, alive after dusk
The story
Marrakech announces itself in colour — rose-red walls against a hard blue sky, then the green of the Agdal gardens and the cobalt of the Majorelle. For nearly a thousand years this was the gateway between the Sahara and the sea, and that crossroads energy still pulses through the souks.
Step off the Jemaa el-Fnaa and the city folds inward: derbs barely wide enough for a laden mule open suddenly into the cool silence of a riad courtyard, where a fountain murmurs and the only sound from above is birdsong. This is the Marrakech we design around — the contrast between exhilaration and retreat.
Our Marrakech is private rooftops at golden hour, a dawn visit to the Saadian Tombs before the crowds, dinner at a chef's table behind an unmarked door, and a hammam ritual that resets you completely.
Walk the souks with a historian before the shutters rise, ending on a rooftop for mint tea.
A long table beneath the olive trees of a private villa in the Palmeraie.
Meet the zellige cutters and leather dyers keeping centuries-old crafts alive.
A UNESCO 'masterpiece of oral heritage' — storytellers, gnaoua musicians and night kitchens.
Yves Saint Laurent's electric-blue refuge and the Berber museum within it.
The best of Marrakech shifts with the calendar. Here's how we'd time your visit.
The finest window — warm days, gardens in bloom, comfortable medina walks.
Fierce heat; we shift to early mornings, pools and the cooler Atlas foothills.
A second high season as the light turns golden and terraces reopen.
Crisp blue days, snow on the Atlas, and the lowest crowds of the year.
A hand-picked selection — the addresses we'd book for you here.
