Private desert camp
Erg Chebbi Luxury Camp
Ensuite Berber tents, a fire-lit majlis and dinner under a billion stars.
The great dunes of Erg Chebbi
The story
Erg Chebbi is the Sahara of the imagination: dunes up to 150 metres high that shift from rose to amber to deep violet as the sun crosses them. Merzouga, the last village before the sand, is the launch point for the experience that defines so many Morocco journeys — the night in the desert.
We don't do the backpacker camel-and-tent cliché. Our Sahara is a private luxury camp with proper beds, ensuite bathrooms, a fire-lit dinner and a Berber astronomer to read the sky. You arrive by 4x4 or, for the last stretch, by camel as the light goes long.
Dawn is the reward: climb the nearest crest in the cold blue half-light and watch the sun ignite the whole erg. Few moments in travel match it.
Ride the last dunes at sunset to a private camp set in its own bowl of sand.
A pre-sunrise climb with sweet tea waiting at the top as Erg Chebbi catches fire.
A telescope, a Berber guide and one of the darkest skies on earth.
Descendants of Saharan trade caravans whose music carries across the sands.
Tea with a nomadic family still moving with the seasons at the desert's edge.
The best of Merzouga shifts with the calendar. Here's how we'd time your visit.
Warm days and cool nights — the ideal balance for camp life and dune walking.
Extreme daytime heat; we travel at dawn and dusk and keep midday for shade.
Our preferred window — settled, golden and comfortable under canvas.
Crystalline skies and brisk nights; the stargazing is simply unmatched.
A hand-picked selection — the addresses we'd book for you here.
